Parent Power

As a busy grandparent myself, I understand how overwhelming things can get. That's why we can work together to help each other. Parent Power is all about empowering parents with the tools and knowledge they need to thrive. We hear you, we see you, and we understand your struggles. So, take a deep breath and remember that you've got this. With Parent Power by your side, anything is possible!

We all are strapped for time. Now is time to take back control of your life. Remember you are only one person. You can't do all that you want in a day but you can make your day more manageable. Have you made a quick daily schedule of all that is in your day. I set up by schedule for 30 minute intervals. First and foremost, get up a little earlier than everyone else. Spend time on you. While others are sleeping get in the tub or shower and devote some time to your own hygiene. Brush your teeth. Fix your makeup, if you wear it. Put on your clothes that you chose the night before.

Next, check on your babies. If they are sleeping this will be a good time to put the evening meal in the crock pot. If you have an instant pot, make sure the meal is ready to go in it when you come home from work. Now to get the kids ready. Get the oldest one up first and get them started. Then, the rest of your children. Save the youngest for last (if you can). Everyone should have an easy time getting ready if you had them pick out their clothes (you checked them to make sure they were ok) the night before. Of course, you may have to help the littlest ones. Don't forget to wake them up with a hug and a calm voice. It may take several times, but it will be worth the patience.

Last thing is breakfast. If you run out of time you can grab a pop tart, bagel, or toast and head out the door. Many schools have started serving free breakfasts. Take advantage of it. While kids are eating cereal, oatmeal, fruit, or bagel, make your coffee or tea to go. Yes, you deserve a latte, but this will save time and money. Have kids rinse the dishes and place in sink or dishwasher. Of course, you will have to help the little ones. If you have a baby, this will probably go a different way. Everyone grabs their bookbags that were packed the night before, you grab your purse and daily bag and head out the door.

I hope this makes a difference for you. Once you set up a routine it will definitely help you in the morning rush.
